Cummins dethroned in ICC men’s Test bowler rankings after four years on top

Australian captain Pat Cummins has lost his place atop the ICC men’s Test bowler rankings.

Having taken just three wickets from the two Border-Gavaskar Tests so far in India, Cummins has been overtaken by veteran Jimmy Anderson who most recently took seven wickets in England’s win over New Zealand at Bay Oval.

Cummins held the top ranking from January 2019, but now sits in third with India’s Ravichandran Ashwin also overtaking him to sit in second place.

In other big moves, India’s Ravi Jadeja has progressed seven places to sit ninth in the bowling rankings, while he continues to hold first in the all-rounder hierarchy.

Other players to achieve career-best rankings are New Zealand’s Tom Blundell and Devon Conway, with the duo now 11th and 17th respectively in the Test batting rankings.

Englishmen Ollie Pope (23rd), Harry Brook (31st) and Ben Duckett (38th) have also achieved career-highs in batting rankings as England continue to dominate under Brendon McCullum.
