Round 8 of the VFL season is complete with four games taking place across Sunday afternoon.
The first match of the day took place at the AIA Centre with Collingwood going down 111-113 to GWS.
In a curtain raiser to Sunday afternoon’s AFL clash at the MCG, the Giants roared home late to take the four points.
After trailing by 30 points 10 minutes into the last quarter, the Giants kicked six of the last seven goals to claim victory with 18-year-old Toby McMullin slotting the winner 34 minutes into the final term.

For GWS, Kieren Briggs was influential with one goal and 24 disposals, he was supported on-ball by Harry Rowston (one goal, 32 disposals) and Josh Fahey (26 disposals), while Wade Derksen did the damage up forward with five goals.
For Collingwood, Josh Carmichael continued to press his claims for AFL selection with a huge four-goal, 28-disposal performance while Trent Bianco (one goal, 22 disposals) and Arlo Draper (23 disposals) showed signs.

Following Saturday night’s AFL clash at the Gabba, Brisbane hosted Essendon at Ipswich on Sunday at the state-league level with the Lions running out 68-point winners.
Tom Fullarton was dominant up forward for the winners with six goals while veteran Jarryd Lyons (two goals, 34 disposals), Callum Ah Chee (one goal, 28 disposals) and Rhys Mathieson (one goal, 28 disposals) proved too much for Essendon to handle.

For the Bombers, Quinton Narkle continued to press his case for the mid-season draft with two goals and 27 disposals while Will Snelling had plenty of it with 27 touches.
Over at Sandringham the St Kilda-affiliated Zebras took the four points with a 80-59 win against Port Melbourne.
For the home team, Marcus Windhager put in a monster performance to press his case for senior selection with three goals and 35 disposals while senior players Jimmy Webster (25 disposals), Jack Billings (22 disposals) and Tom Campbell (18 disposals, 31 hitouts) were solid.
The final game of the day took place at Whitten Oval with Footscray going down 57-91 to Werribee.
In a down day for the Dogs their standouts were Jordon Sweet (one goal, 12 disposals, 55 hitouts) and Buku Khamis (three goals, seven marks).
