With the Women’s FIFA World Cup approaching, Amy Duggan has joined Sam Edmund on SEN’s This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers to discuss her football career.

Born Amy Taylor, the Canberra-native first featured for her local club Tuggeranong before playing nearly 100 games for the Canberra Eclipse in the now defunct Australian Women’s National Soccer League.

From Canberra to the international stage, Duggan broke through for the Matildas to earn her debut for Australia in 1997 at the age of just 17.

Known as a tenacious tackler and strong defender, Duggan played 20 games for her country but her career was cut short by recurring ankle injuries including two reconstructive surgeries.

After retiring in 2005, Duggan has been one of the main media faces of women’s football in Australia including commentating W-League and Matildas matches for ABC, Fox Sports and Optus Sport.

Overcame serious injury setbacks to play 20 games for Australia from 97 to 05.
