“You’re allowed to grab the groin region”: Zorko surprised Miller escaped sanction for ‘squirrel grip’
Brisbane’s Dayne Zorko was the victim of a ‘squirrel grip’ from Gold Coast’s Touk Miller on Saturday.
The Lions veteran was tackled by the Suns co-captain in the third quarter of the Q-Clash which the Suns won by 41 points. The tackle slipped low with Miller’s hand making contact with the groin region of Zorko which incensed the Lion.
Miller escaped any sanction from the MRO for the incident, but Zorko felt perhaps he should have come under some sort of scrutiny for the act.
“It’s interesting, you’re allowed to grab the groin region now and squeeze it and do whatever you want to it,” Zorko said on SENQ Breakfast.
“So that’s an interesting rule that’s been cleared by the AFL.
“It’s quite interesting that (he) got off. We had really good evidence to support the case.
“I tell you what, my groin region is quite bruised at the moment. It’s funny how that all happens.”
SENQ Breakfast’s Pat Welsh asked: “And they took no action?”
The former Lions skipper replied: “Clearly not, it must have been an accident.
“It’s an accident when they get up and smile and laugh about it, isn’t it.”
Welsh’s co-host Ian Healy quipped: “Well, get into it for the rest of the season then.”
“They’ve set the precedent now,” Zorko laughed.
