Cornes offers injury update on Power stars ahead of first final

Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes has offered an update on the health of several Power players ahead of their Qualifying Final against Brisbane next Saturday.

One name Cornes says simply won’t get up for the trip north is Charlie Dixon who is still yet to recover from a foot fracture.

While the big forward is reportedly on the mend, Cornes says he's simply coming from too far back to play in the first weekend of finals.

Even though the news isn’t great for Dixon, Cornes is certain that his forward partner Todd Marshall will return to the side after being a late out against Richmond with a hip complaint.

“I went down there yesterday to training,” Cornes said on Nine’s Sunday Footy Show.

“Dixon is a no, Dixon won’t play.

“He’s starting to feel a little bit better but he hasn’t done a lot with that foot fracture. So he is out.

“Todd Marshall will play and he’s really important to them.

“It’s a young forward line that they’ve got with no Dixon.

“It’ll be him and (Ollie) Lord as the keys there with (Jeremy) Finlayson.”

As well as Marshall, Cornes is expecting that defender Trent McKenzie and ruckman Scott Lycett will put their hands up for selection.

The duo have both recovered from knee concerns and Cornes expects the duo to significantly boost the side.

“McKenzie is the other one that will come back in which is a big boost for them,” Cornes said.

“Some good names are back and Scott Lycett played SANFL too, so they’re expecting he will play as well.”

Port Adelaide faces Brisbane at the Gabba in the second Qualifying Final next Saturday night.
