Zerk-Thatcher and Duursma trade places in last minute switch

Port Adelaide and Essendon have agreed to a last minute trade.

The deal sees Brandon Zerk-Thatcher head to Port Adelaide while Xavier Duursma heads to Essendon.

The Power receive Zerk-Thatcher, pick 73 and two future fourth-round selections (one tied to Carlton). The Bombers receive Duursma only.

Zerk-Thatcher, a South Australian, heads to Alberton to join the club’s new look backline following 51 games in the red and black between 2019 and 2023.

Duursma, a Victorian, heads to the Hangar following 73 games for the Power after being taken with pick No. 18 in the 2018 Draft.

The Gippsland Power product played 16 games in 2023 including both of Port Adelaide’s finals losses.

Zerk-Thacher played 22 games for Essendon in 2023, eclipsing the 12 he played in 2022 as he began to cement his place in the side under Brad Scott.
