Freo rules out forward for entirety of season 2024

Fremantle has made the extraordinary decision to rule Josh Corbett out of the 2024 AFL season, more than four months away from its commencement.

The Dockers advised on Friday evening that Corbett is set to undergo hip surgery later next month and will then be off the park for up to 12 months.

The club says surgery “provides Corbett with the best opportunity to get back to playing football and avoid any long-term complications with his hip down the track.”

Corbett, 27, has played five games for the Dockers since crossing in last year’s trade period from the Gold Coast Suns.

Four of those came after Round 18 this season. He played 10 games in the WAFL, including Peel Thunder’s four finals.

However, it does allow Fremantle to open up an extra list spot and take a new player in the pre-season supplemental selection.
