Sixers star in stable condition after being struck by a car

Philadelphia 76ers star forward Kelly Oubre Jr has been released from hospital after being hit by a car whilst on foot in the city’s centre, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski is also reporting that team representatives are with Oubre Jr in the hospital and are fearing significant but not season-ending injuries.

The news comes just 24 hours after the Sixers moved to the top of the NBA’s Eastern Conference with a 114-106 win over the Detroit Pistons, with Oubre Jr putting up eight points and eight rebounds in 26 minutes.

Oubre Jr has impressed in his first eight games as a Sixer after joining on a minimum deal ($2 million per year) from the Charlotte Hornets.

The 27-year-old is averaging 16.3 points per game along with 5.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per match.

He is also the fourth-highest scorer on a Sixers team that has only lost one of its first eight games to hold the second-best record in the NBA. More to come.
