Delisted duo, ex-Don, VFL skipper and VAFA star training for Pies list spot

Collingwood have confirmed the five players who have been invited to train with the club in hopes of joining the list via the pre-season supplemental period.

Up to six players can trial at the same club at one time and the Magpies have invited five to take part in the pre-season.

Collingwood VFL co-captain Campbell Hustwaite gets a chance to earn his way onto the senior list, while his 2023 Magpies teammate and former Essendon tall Josh Eyre has also earned an invite.

Two invitees have recently come off AFL lists with ex-Port Adelaide ruck Brynn Teakle and ex-St Kilda midfielder Jack Bytel given a chance to earn a lifeline after being delisted by their previous clubs.

Teakle played six games for the Power while Bytel appeared 22 times for the Saints.

The other player to earn an invite is local star Sam Sofronidis who hails from VAFA club Collegians.

The versatile defender has been compared to Geelong gun Tom Stewart.

The SSP period is open from Monday, November 27 to Monday, February 19. Collingwood can sign players anytime throughout that period.

Collingwood signed premiership defender Oleg Markov and developing ruckman Oscar Steene via last season's SSP.
