Port Adelaide has officially applied for entry into the VFL.
The Herald Sun is reporting that the Power are eager to make the move from the SANFL to the VFL and have lodged a formal request with the AFL to do so.
SEN’s Michelangelo Rucci suggested in early November that this scenario could become a reality due to Port’s desire to align with a possible nation-wide reserves competition, which is gathering steam.

It is understood that the Power want to avoid any potential disadvantages to the development of their young players by making the move away from the SANFL.
Port, alongside fellow South Australians the Adelaide Crows, as well as West Australian clubs West Coast and Fremantle are the only four AFL clubs to not be a part of the VFL.
Those remaining three clubs are believed to be considering following Port’s lead.
The Port Adelaide Football Club is the most successful SANFL club in history, winning a record 36 premierships to go along with their 2004 AFL flag.
