Australia got the better of England 61-59 at the Netball Nations Cup in London on Sunday.

The rematch of the World Cup Final saw the Diamonds edge their arch rivals at Wembley Arena in a tight affair.

The Diamonds led by five goals at half-time before the Roses turned proceedings around to hold a narrow two-goal lead at the final break. However, the home side was unable to hold off the all-conquering Australians who won the final term 18 to 14 to claim the win.

Four players finished with double-figure scores for the Diamonds with Sophie Garbin (26), Kiera Austin (12), Cara Koenen (12) and Sophie Dwyer (11) all delivering.

For the Roses, goal shooter and Melbourne Mavericks recruit Eleanor Cardwell starred with an exceptional 43 goals from 46 attempts.

Australia is well placed to advance to the Netball Nations Cup Final with a final group stage match against Uganda to come while England will meet New Zealand.
