BEN King is poised to re-sign with Gold Coast as the Suns set themselves for a charge towards a maiden finals berth.
While there is no agreement on finances yet, King will commit to a two-year deal that will carry him through to free agency eligibility at the end of 2026.
King, 23, has been the subject of near annual speculation over his playing future, but the young forward has repeatedly spoken of his love of the Gold Coast lifestyle - and the club - since he was taken at pick 6 in the 2018 national draft.
Gold Coast has had a contract offer in front of King since last year and while the goalkicker has been in no rush to make a formal commitment, he is now close to putting his decision on paper.
His manager Robbie D’Orazio was on the Gold Coast last week for meetings with King and other Connors Sports clients.
King returned from a torn ACL to kick 40 goals from 20 games last season. He is not yet certain to feature against Richmond in next month’s Opening Round after a knee swelling issue cut his 2023 campaign short.
