Coleman Medallist Scott Cummings has ranked his top 10 players in the AFL ahead of Round 8 of the 2024 season.

Cummings releases his power rankings weekly on SEN WA Breakfast.

He has dropped one from his list this week, bringing in Zach Merrett for Fremantle ruckman Luke Jackson who has dropped off since Sean Darcy’s return to the side.

10. Zach Merrett (Essendon)

“Zach comes into number 10 at the expense of Luke Jackson.

“He (Jackson) should be in the top 10, but he won’t be with Sean Darcy in the team.”

9. Connor Rozee (Port Adelaide)

8. Toby Greene (GWS Giants)

“Toby Greene slips to eight, and there’s a reason for that.

“Toby doesn’t play (against Brisbane) but they (GWS) were still elite and that’s because of Tom Green’s work.”

7. Errol Gulden (Sydney)

6. Christian Petracca (Melbourne)

5. Charlie Curnow (Carlton)

4. Nick Daicos (Collingwood)

3. Marcus Bontempelli (Western Bulldogs)

2. Tom Green (GWS)

“Tom Green jumps in from four to number two.”

1. Isaac Heeney (Sydney)

“Isaac Heeney stays at number one. He has to.”

Cummings also named a watch-list of players just outside the top 10 that he thinks are on the verge of jumping in.

Those names are: Zak Butters, Tom Liberatore, Sam Taylor, Caleb Serong, Jeremy Cameron and Max Gawn.
