Collingwood midfielder Jordan De Goey will miss another week as he continues to battle a groin injury.
De Goey missed his first game of the year in Round 8 against Carlton and will miss his second consecutive match this weekend, the Pies confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.
“It’s expected the midfielder will begin running towards the back end of next week and the Magpies’ Medical team are confident he will be available for Round 10,” a club statement said.
The 28-year-old star midfielder had battled form issues to start 2024 but played important roles in his side’s wins over Hawthorn and Port Adelaide, as well as the Anzac Day draw.
Fellow on-baller Tom Mitchell similarly won’t return this weekend after being diagnosed with appendicitis. A foot injury kept him out of last week’s six-point win over the Blues, but the Magpies too expect him to be available in Round 10.
The club has also confirmed a hamstring strain for Brody Mihocek, as flagged by Craig McRae on SEN, while Beau McCreery is in the concussion protocols.
Collingwood faces West Coast on Mother’s Day before facing the Adelaide Crows the following week.
