Port Adelaide have snatched victory from the jaws of defeat against Hawthorn at the Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
The final scoreline read 11.14 (80) to 12.7 (79) as the Power kicked two goals in the final minute to get over the top of a gallant Hawks side.
Darcy Byrne-Jones was the hero with a ridiculous match-winner off the ground in the final 10 seconds, while Willie Rioli converted a set shot from 50m out to give them a sniff in the final minute.
Zak Butters was the main man on ball that helped his side even have a chance. With his huge last quarter helping the home side claw back a deficit that once went out to 41 points.
Hawthorn was able to get out to such a big lead thanks to an absolutely electric first quarter where defender-turned-forward Blake Hardwick effectively turned into Jason Dunstall, kicking four majors as the visitors bridged a 31-point lead at the first break.
While the Power were always going to respond, they could only win the second term by nine points as the Hawks continued to hold them at bay, responding with a goal whenever Port Adelaide picked up some momentum until late in the piece.
Even though the Hawks kicked away again in the third term, the Power came home with a wet sail kicking the last six goals of the game.
The Power will hope to take some of that momentum into their clash against North Melbourne in Hobart on Saturday while the Hawks will be desperate to make amends when they host the Lions at Marvel Stadium next Sunday.
Our player grades.
Zak Butters: A+
Lifted massively late and was the key factor behind Port’s resurgence. Wasn’t at his best in the first three quarters though but that didn’t matter as he was just about the only reason why his side got the four points. Finished with 31 disposals.
Dan Houston: A+
A massive game from half back, finishing with three goals and 22 disposals, Was the team’s best when the Hawks really got doing throughout the middle of the game.
Jason Horne-Francis: A
Continued his great form with two goals and 27 disposals. Was Port Adelaide’s best midfielder throughout the first three terms.
Darcy Byrne-Jones: B+
Kicked the absolutely ridiculous match-winner in the dying seconds. Will probably be remembered as the most important moment of his career. Incredible.
Kane Farrell: B+
Another player that continued to lift as the side came back late, finished with 26 disposals.
Willie Rioli: B+
Was incredibly quiet early but sprung to life in the second half, kicking three goals including a major in the final minute that gave Port Adelaide a chance of victory.
Travis Boak: B+
A really good game from the veteran. Stood up with a few soldiers down on-ball. Finished with 26 disposals.

Jackson Mead: B
Went on ball a little bit more once Wines went off with his heart palpitations.
Aliir Aliir: B-
Esava Ratugolea: C+

Dante Visentini: C+
Was solid in the ruck but Meek took the points in their head-to-head battle.
Miles Bergman: C+
Tried hard but was probably beaten by Massimo D’Ambrosio.

Battled through a sore shoulder to finish with 14 disposals in a solid game.
Charlie Dixon: C+
Jeremy Finlayson: C-
Missed a few great chances but wasn’t at his best anyway.

Jed McEntee: D
Mitch Georgiades: D
Had no impact as a forward.
Brandon Zerk-Thatcher: N/A
Came on for Wines in the second term and immediately went back to try and stem some of the bleeding.
Ollie Wines: N/A
Was subbed off in the second quarter due to heart palpitations. The club made the move as a precautionary measure. He finished with seven disposals.
Blake Hardwick: A+
Started on fire, kicking four first quarter goals. Finished on five majors before being flipped back in the last term as the Hawks tried to hold on for the win. Gave away a crucial free kick late but was otherwise amazing.
Will Day: A
In his fourth game back from a foot injury, Day returned to his best. Was everywhere on ball with a goal and 27 disposals.
Lloyd Meek: A
All-Australian chance? Meek is in the form of his life and took the points in his ruck battle against Dante Visentini.

Good again without having the massive impact that he has in other games recently. Such a consistent performer.
Conor Nash: B
Jack Ginnivan: B
Kicked goal and presented well all day mainly as a deep small forward.

Kicked a couple of nice goals and presented well.
Sam Frost: B-
Connor Macdonald: C+
Jarman Impey: C+
Was a bit down on his usual output off half back.
Josh Weddle: C+
Not a big game from a statistical point of view at all but did some important things on the last line of defence as the Power came home strong.
Jai Newcombe: C+
Down on his typica output after a brilliant game last week. Still tried all day and burrowed in at the contest.
Calsher Dear: C+
Could have had a big impact after getting some great chances early but was wayward in front of goal. Shows signs as an aerial tall forward.
Changkuoth Jiath: C
Was subbed off for Luke Breust at three-quarter time as Hawthorn manage his loads in return from injury. Finished with eight disposals.
Nick Watson: C
An almost day from the young small forward who got into dangerous spots and had chances but couldn’t finish.

Seamus Mitchell: D
Luke Breust: N/A
