The Queensland Maroons head into Game II of the 2024 State of Origin series with a 1-0 lead after a convincing 38-10 win over the NSW Blues in the first clash three weeks ago.

Queensland was handed a massive advantage in the seventh minute of that game when NSW centre Joseph Sua’ali’i was sent off for a massive shot on Reece Walsh, giving the Maroons a one-man advantage for the remainder of the fixture.

As Sua’ali’i was marched from the field, Maroons legend and current assistant coach Nate Myles was caught on the coverage giving him a departing word, which was later reported to be, ‘Hope you enjoyed your f----ng debut’.

Myles opened up on the situation and gave a lighthearted recount on the now infamous situation.

“It’s a bit of a funny one, I’m a little bit disappointed that people would think that I swear at an upstanding citizen of the game,” Myles said on SEN 1170 The Captain’s Run.

“I’m a very big fan of Joseph’s game, he’s a very physical player, he’s a big lad, he’s very athletic and he likes the tough stuff, everyone knows his style of footy is that way, he’s a very honest footballer.

“I just wanted to be honest with him and just let him quietly know how his performance was.”

Looking ahead to Game II, Myles wasn’t impressed with SEN’s Cameron Smith for suggesting the Queensland would be relaxed heading into the crucial fixture.

“Cameron Smith, if you were to ever say that to your team about being relaxed, I’ll be absolutely mortified,” Myles added.

“Our prep has been really good, it’s been another really, really strong build-up, you come into these camps and you have a ten-day turnaround, some players have just played, some are three or four days, some have even not played for eight days with the bye.

“Our ability to get everyone on the same page and same stage or level, that’s our focus and then we do a day on, day off process with our process.

“It’s enormous, our guys, even compared to five, seven years ago, the professionalism they roll with now It's kind of impressive to sit back and watch.”
