Footy legend Malcolm Blight has made a bold Brownlow Medal prediction.
After 16 rounds of footy and with much more information to assess, Blight has come to a conclusion that this year’s medal will be shared by two players.
He is forecasting that Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and Carlton skipper Patrick Cripps will tie in the 2024 Brownlow count.
“This could be famous,” Blight said on SEN’s Sportsday SA.
“There’ll be a tie in the Brownlow Medal.
“Marcus Bontempelli and Patrick Cripps will tie.
“‘Bont’ and Cripps will have a heap of threes (votes).”
Bontempelli finished second by two votes to dual winner Lachie Neale in 2023. The Dogs star also finished second to Ollie Wines in 2021.
Cripps won the award in 2022. He finished equal eighth last year with 22 votes.
The current AFL Brownlow predictor has Cripps leading the count on 22 votes alongside Sydney’s Isaac Heeney, with Bontempelli back on 18 votes.
