It was a big week on SENZ's Scotty & Izzy with Mark 'Rigor' Richardson joining the show to fill in for Israel Dagg on Monday & Tuesday.
On that Monday show, Scotty and Rigor recapped the T20 Cricket World Cup which had finished on the Sunday, plus a thrilling bounce-back win for the One NZ Warriors against the Brisbane Broncos to keep their hopes of a top-eight finish alive.
With Israel back on deck later in the week, the majority of the show's focus was building up towards the start of rugby union's international Test season, with the All Blacks taking on England in the first of two matches this Saturday.
This is the best from the week that was on Scotty & Izzy:
Jarrod Kimber:
Australian cricket writer and journalist Jarrod Kimber joined us on Monday to recap the T20 World Cup, with India beating South Africa in the final, becoming the first team in ICC history to finish the 20-over tournament undefeated at a time when New Zealand crashed out in the group stage.
Tom Walsh:
Kiwi Olympic shot putter Tom Walsh joined the show on Wednesday to talk through his current preparations for his third Olympic Games.
The 32-year-old is aiming to go better than his previous bronze medal efforts from Rio and Tokyo, with American rival Ryan Crouser likely to once again provide stiff competition for the Timaru-native in Paris.
Kendra Cocksedge:
Former Black Ferns halfback Kendra Cocksedge also joined Scotty & Izzy on Wednesday to discuss the impending retirement of Portia Woodman-Wickliffe from international rugby following the Olympic Games, how the explosive winger might perform in the NRLW if Woodman-Wickliffe did choose to sign with the NZ Warriors, plus the upcoming series against the Wallaroos.
Women's Sport:
'Scotty’s Spin’ is a regular segment on the Breakfast show, and on Thursday it was all about women’s sport and how far New Zealand is falling behind the curve when it comes to investing in it as a country.
The White Ferns simply don’t have the depth of players and we haven’t done nearly enough to capitalise on the Black Ferns’ World Cup success from 2022, according to Stevenson.
