The best of Staffy: Ian Ferguson's Olympic triumph, Tom Jordan, and more

No two weeks are ever the same for Mark Stafford's afternoon show on SENZ.

On Tuesdays, an hour is dedicated to netball from 2pm with Centre Pass: In Focus, and on Wednesdays from 2pm, Staffy gets to knock off an hour early when Running It Straight takes over to chat rugby league.

That variety is often the spice that brings it all together and this week was no different.

With Lulu Sun, Michael Venus, and Erin Routliffe flying the New Zealand flag at Wimbledon, Ben Campbell winning on golf's Asia Tour, the NRL, and the international rugby union season in full-flight, there was plenty to talk about.

This is the best from the week that was on SENZ Afternoons:

Tom Jordan:
Whenever possible, Staffy will look to bring his guests into SENZ's Auckland studio, instead of the usual phone interview. And when it happens, it can produce some magic radio.

Tom Jordan is originally from Auckland and was in town, so the Glasgow Warriors first-five/second-five popped in on Wednesday to chat about his rugby union career in the Northern Hemisphere.

Glasgow won the United Rugby Championship after beating The Bulls in last month's Grand Final at a packed Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

Tom also spoke about how his rugby journey started and fielded a couple of listener questions too.

Ian Ferguson:
As part of our build-up towards the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, we highlight an iconic moment in Kiwi Olympic history each Thursday, complete with a tribute featuring audio of the events and a special interview with the athlete.

This week Afternoons took a look at the remarkable feats of Ian Ferguson in the canoe at the Los Angeles 1984 Olympics, winning three gold medals in the K1 500m, K2 500m, and K4 1000m.

Jeremy Paul:
A week on Afternoons with Staffy wouldn't be the same without 'The Jeremy Paul Show' featuring former Wallabies hooker Jeremy Paul.

With a Kiwi coaching the Wallabies once again, this time Joe Schmidt, there is a vested interest in the performance of Australia's national rugby side on New Zealand's side of the ditch.

Normally on a Friday, JP was brought forward to Thursday with Staffy unavailable, where the pair discussed Schmidt, Jame Slipper's impact, the upcoming Rugby Championship and more.

Tune into SENZ from midday to 3pm weekdays for Afternoons with Staffy, available on the SENZ app or find your local frequency here.
