Former Australian Basketballer Andrew Bogut has sung his praise for veteran point guard Matthew Dellavedova after his highly efficient performance against the USA in Abu Dhabi.

Despite being limited to only four minutes of playing time, the 2015 NBA champion was proud of the way Dellavedova played in the exhibition match which highlighted the reasoning behind his inclusion.

“That’s the reason why he made the team.” Bogut said on SEN 1116 The Run Home.

“He played four minutes and he had two rebounds, two assists and a steal.

“That’s why he’s in the team because you can play him for a quick 30 second stint and you know that guy is going to get on the court like he’s had seven red bulls.

“He has that uncanny ability to fire straight away and he’s just going as hard as he can.

“If I’m a coach, my 11th and 12th guy that I’ve got to use, I might not play him in three straight games, (but) I know in that fourth game if I put him in with two minutes left in the second quarter, he’s going to give me everything he’s got.”

The Boomers will continue their preparations for this year’s Olympic games when they take on Serbia in their next exhibition match on Wednesday morning.
