SEN SA The Run Home host Kym Dillon has corroborated reports that Port Adelaide’s Dan Houston could be set to move to a Victorian club this off-season.

While the 27-year-old is signed until the end of 2027, AFL Media’s Cal Twomey reported this week that Victorian clubs had a trade watch on the All-Australian defender, with the Demons among the clubs interested.

In response to that report, some, including Port Adelaide great Kane Cornes, couldn’t understand why the Power would be willing to part with such a key player.

But after making some calls, Dillon thinks that the murmurs are coming from the Houston camp as he believes the 163-gamer would be happy to get back to Victoria as he hails from Melbourne.

He discussed a potential move with co-host Michelangelo Rucci, who is another who was initially taken aback by the original report.

Rucci: “This was the one that staggered me, considering that Dan Houston is contracted until 2027.

“I'm used to clubs asking questions a couple of years out because that's how free agency works.

“But for this one to come up all of a sudden was like flabbergasting.”

Dillon: “He has three years (left), but I’m hearing he’s a bit keen to go home to Victoria.”

Rucci: “Or is it or is it clubs knowing Port needs draft peaks are prepared to put some wedges in and see what comes out.”

Dillon: “I thought the same last night, but I don't think that Port would be floating him.

“I made a few calls last night and I think Dan would be happy to get back to Victoria. It's strange when you've got three years to go.

“I'm hearing he (Houston) is keen to go home. You can understand that home is home, it (living away) doesn't work for everyone.”

Rucci: “If we're going to get Jordan Dawson and others coming home, don't you then recognise that the same theme works the other way?”

Dillon: “Very much so. It’s an interesting one.”

Houston originally signed his contract extension with Port Adelaide at the start of the 2022 season.
