Western Bulldogs great Brad Johnson has named the five AFL players he most enjoys watching.
The Fox Footy commentator gets the chance to call every team across the campaign but it’s these players who excite him most during his work or watching as a fan.
Johnson picked Sydney’s Errol Gulden, Adelaide’s Izak Rankine, Collingwood’s Nick Daicos, Melbourne’s Jack Viney and Dogs skipper Marcus Bontempelli in his top five and he explained each pick on SEN Sportsday.
“It is tough to narrow it down to five, but these are the ones I love to watch and there's no particular order here,” Johnson told SEN Sportsday.
“Errol Gulden from the Sydney Swans, I just absolutely love watching him. It’s the way that he kicks the ball, and he opens the ground right up.
“He goes across zones with how penetrating his kick is and his bullets inside forward 50 are sensational.
“Izak Rankine sits in this group because of how magic he is around goals and what he can create. I think he'll just get better and better.
“Nick Daicos is in the group as well because obviously a young superstar in the competition and he is quickly becoming my favourite player. It was Buddy Franklin for a very long time, but I just love the way Nick Daicos goes about it.
“Jack Viney's in my top five. I just love watching Jack play footy. He's tough, he's inspiring, he's ruthless and I love that.
“He's always been a favourite of mine and I love what he did when Melbourne won the flag as well. That probably tipped him into my top five because when he was brought back into that team after injury, he turned them into a premiership-winning midfield.
“Then there’s the ‘Bont’ Marcus Bontempelli from a Bulldogs point of view, he obviously sits there in that top five.”
