Hawthorn’s Conor Nash is eyeing off a monster contract extension.
The serviceable midfielder has had one of his best years in brown and gold and is receiving significant interest from rival clubs.
Channel Nine’s Tom Morris says the 25-year-old unrestricted free agent has a monster six year offer in front of him from a rival club.
Ruling out Essendon as one of those clubs, Morris expects the inside midfielder to stay at the Hawks but concedes the interest from other clubs is real.
“Conor Nash from Hawthorn is a free agent and there’s been some real interest for him,” Morris told SEN’s Crunch Time.
“I got told during the week that a club has said they’re prepared to offer six years for Conor Nash.
“I don’t know who that club is, it’s not Essendon and whatever the case is there is belief at clubs that Conor Nash will be staying at the Hawks.
“That’s the belief from rival clubs but that’s a big offer for a free agent of Conor Nash’s ability.”
Former GWS captain Phil Davis believes this type of offer is reflective of list managers wanting to lock away their key players ahead of Tasmania entering the competition.
“I must admit that I’m not all across the whispers and thoughts of list managers at the moment but that kind of offer seems as though it’s a list manager or group that’s concerned about Tasmania coming in and they want to get as much talent in now,” Davis said.
“Everyone knows what Conor Nash can do but when you go towards a draft and a new time is coming in and you’re worrying about players leaving, you want to make sure that your list is in a really good spot by 2026 because you know it’s going to get a little bit crazy after that.
“Conor Nash is a very good role player, he does some great stuff for Hawthorn so I think he stays but I’m more interested in why a six year deal as it doesn’t feel like that’s where he sits in terms of tenure.”
Nash has played 18 senior games in 2024 and is averaging just under 20 disposals.
