Collingwood veteran Scott Pendlebury has confirmed he’s set to play on in 2025 for a remarkable 20th season.

The 399-gamer becomes just the sixth V/AFL player to reach 400 games in Saturday night’s clash against Carlton, but he won’t be stopping there after confirming he’ll play on at age 37.

Speaking exclusively with Nathan Buckley and Kane Cornes on SEN Breakfast, Pendlebury was asked about whether he had his sights on breaking Brent Harvey’s all-time V/AFL games record of 432.

While Pendlebury is simply taking things one week at a time ahead of his big milestone, he told Buckley and Cornes that he does have a contract for next year and will consider playing on beyond that, pending on if it’s the right thing for the club.

“To be honest, I just want to get through 400 try and get another win,” Pendlebury told SEN Breakfast.

“But, yeah, I've got a contract for next year. So, it depends on how my form and how the team's going (for anything beyond 2025).

“Fly has been really good with me, and we have conversations ongoing about where he sees me, where I see myself and also planning for the future.

“I know that I'm probably on the back three of the golf course or probably the back two.

“If I do happen to get there, it will be because the football club and I think it's the best thing to do.

“But it's not one where I'm going to put myself ahead of the club and try and get there for my own sort of personal goals.”

While the club is yet to announce Pendlebury’s re-signing, the veteran says the deal is locked away with just a few small details to iron out.

“Yeah, it's all done,” Pendlebury confirmed.

“I think there's just a few fine little details but yeah, it's all locked away.

“So, I’m looking forward to playing next year.”

Even if Pendlebury does want to break Harvey’s record, he would need to play again in 2026 to reach 433 games.

The former club captain, two-time premiership winner, Norm Smith Medallist, five-time best and fairest and six-time All-Australian plays his 400th AFL game on Saturday night at the MCG against rivals Carlton.
