Legendary AFL commentator Stephen Quartermain is set to return to the commentary box, as SEN launches Hawks Radio for this Sunday’s blockbuster between Carlton and Hawthorn at the MCG.
Fan-favourite Quartermain will spearhead the parochial and biased radio broadcast, calling his beloved Hawks as they continue their push towards a potential finals appearance.
“Quarters” will line up alongside Hawks Brownlow medallist and five-time premiership star Robert DiPierdomenico. While passionate Hawks fan and comedian Anthony “Lehmo” Lehmann will also join them in the box.
Sunday’s match will see SEN provide every footy fan their ultimate choice of coverage, with the much-loved Blues Radio also returning for the blockbuster, as well as AFL Nation’s neutral call.
Blues Radio – presented by BUPA – will be spearheaded by Carlton super-fan Dave Hughes, who will line up alongside Carlton legends Ang Christou and Mark Maclure, alongside SEN commentator Damian Watson.
Quartermain said he was extremely excited to return to the commentary box with SEN and Hawks Radio.
“It has been a few years since I’ve called a game, but what a way to make my comeback, calling the mighty Hawks home in front of 90,000 at the ‘G,” Quartermain said.
“There’s no better side in footy to watch right now than Sam Mitchell’s Hawks, so we’ll be getting right behind them and every Hawks fan at home or at the game should be tuning in as we cheer them on with you!
“Expect the most biased call in Australian sporting history. We’re coming after you Carlton!”
While in the box next door, Blues Radio host and Carlton icon Mark Maclure said he couldn’t wait to be back delivering the biased Blues call against the Hawks.
“Who are these blokes!?” Maclure said. “Ugliest jumper in the competition. And we can’t wait to end their season on Sunday.”
SEN CEO Craig Hutchison said it was the perfect time for Quartermain to make his return to radio.
“Stephen Quartermain is one of footy’s best callers, and we’re pumped to have him back on the airwaves with the debut of SEN’s Hawks Radio,” Hutchison said.
“His passion for the Hawks is well-known by everyone, and we can’t wait to see what he has planned for Sunday afternoon. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”
All three calls will be available on the SEN App.
Fans at the MCG can listen to the calls with no delay using SEN Stadium through the SEN App.
While those watching at home can sync up the calls to their TV using SEN Sync on the SEN App.
