Which players should have been given coaches votes for their Round 22 performances?

Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne has named the five players who were perhaps overlooked by the coaches on the weekend.

The below guys ranked high in Champion Data’s ratings yet did not receive any votes.

See the players below:

Luke Parker (Sydney)

“So Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney get all the love for what they did in the last quarter which is fair enough,” Hoyne said on SEN’s Sportsday.

“I just want to add another player to this which is Luke Parker. His last quarter when he got thrown into the midfield, he had seven disposals, six contested possessions, four clearances and was involved in three scores.

“He ended up being the third highest rated player on the ground and didn’t get a vote.”

Finn Callaghan (GWS)

“I thought that was one of his more impactful games this year.

“We had him as the highest rated player on the ground and he didn’t get a vote.

“I reckon the split of seven contested possessions and 17 uncontested possessions made him have the third most impact of any player on the weekend.

“That’s his asset. He doesn’t need to be the inside, contest, clearance player. Get the ball in his hands so he can damage with the ball use that he has.”

Dylan Shiel (Essendon)

“He was the third highest rated player on the ground and didn’t get a vote.

“That was the highest rated game of his season. His last two games he’s had some significant impact with ball in hand which is probably not what we’ve associated with him for a number of years.”

James Worpel (Hawthorn)

“He was the second highest rated player on the ground behind Josh Weddle.

“That was actually his highest rated game since Round 3 this year. A nice, even balance in all three phases of the game.

“It just adds to that even midfield mix that Hawthorn currently have at their disposal.”

Tim Membrey (St Kilda)

“Second highest player on the ground.

“He’s in pretty good form. He’s kicked 11 goals in the last four weeks and has been involved in 30 scores in that time.

“He’s providing a bit of danger inside forward 50 without Max King being there.”
