Toby Bedford admits he has not changed anything about the way he plays the game, following the chaotic week following his tackle on Richmond’s Tim Taranto.
Bedford was handed a three-week ban for the tackle that concussed Taranto, a suspension that was upheld by the Tribunal and then overturned by the AFL Appeals Board.
It was controversial at the time, with many feeling the tackle was not a reportable offence.
Bedford admits it was a frustrating week, but adds he didn’t think he did anything unfair.
“It’s been interesting. I got off at the appeals board and I thought it was a fair tackle,” Bedford told SEN Afternoons.
“I’ll just continue to tackle the way I’ve always done.
“I feel we as players know whether you’ve done an illegal tackle or not.
“I’ll just keep playing the way I play. I’m not going to change that until I really do get rubbed out for a dangerous tackle.
“I feel as though I’d be the first one to put my hand up and say ‘that’s fully dangerous’.
“I feel as though I’ve got a pretty good grasp of what’s wrong and right. I didn’t look too deeply into it, it was a frustrating week to be honest, but it wasn’t a new experience for me so I tried to act like it was a normal week.”
Bedford and the Giants will be hoping to lock away a top four spot this weekend, when they travel to Ballarat to face the Western Bulldogs.
