The AFLCA Champion Player of the Year votes are now in camera for the final two weeks of the home and away season.
So Champion Data has instead named some of the most underrated performances of the weekend given we don’t have access to the coaches votes.
See the players below:
Tom Green (GWS)
“Brent Daniels got all the credit, Jesse Hogan as well,” Champion Data’s Daniel Hoyne said on SEN’s Sportsday.
“I thought Tom Green’s second half was unbelievable.
“27 disposals, 16 contested possessions, 10 clearances. Second time that’s ever been done in a half of footy.”
Lawson Humphries (Geelong)
“He was unbelievable in terms of what he was able to do on Saturday night.
“He was the number one rated half-back flanker from the weekend with his 23 disposals.
“The ability to intercept, use the ball, then create scores off that. It’s interesting what he’s doing at the moment, he seems to be a lock in that team.”
Jack Scrimshaw (Hawthorn)
“I think he’s flying under the radar.
“I know James Sicily gets a lot of the credit, and the midfield and forwards get a lot of credit.
“But what this guy is doing as their second or third key defender has been fantastic. He’s now a top-50 player across the season.
“He has a perfect balance with his ability to be able to win the footy and then be able to use the ball.”
Matt Roberts (Sydney)
“Keep an eye on Matty Roberts.
“The last five weeks he’s actually a top-40 player in the competition with what he’s doing.
“His ability to be able to use the ball and be creative and get some ball movement going for the Swans has been significant.
“He was the fifth highest rated general defender on the weekend.”
Ed Richards (Western Bulldogs)
“I’m fascinated with where Toby Bedford goes on the weekend (when GWS take on the Dogs).
“Ed Richards was the fourth highest rated player across the competition on the weekend, albeit against North Melbourne, I understand that.
“Keep in mind that Sydney recognised this bloke and sent James Jordon to him before he got concussed. Jordon had him under wraps.
“I would have though Bedford goes to Adam Treloar, but just have a look at what they do with Ed Richards because he is absolutely flying at the moment.”
