Ariarne Titmus was a surprise visitor in the Hawthorn rooms before last weekend’s win over Richmond, fresh off her Olympic success.

Titmus, who won two gold and two silver medals in Paris, was asked to speak to the players before the game by coach Sam Mitchell.

As a Hawthorn fan, she gladly accepted, speaking before the game and sitting in on the coach’s post-match address.

“Yeah, so it was actually a surprise, so Sam Mitchell the coach had me come in and basically him and I spoke for the pre-game rev up. He was asking how I would approach a heat in the Olympics,” Titmus said.

“I guess yesterday was their heat going into finals and I spoke about how you don’t want to leave anything to chance even though they were playing the team that was at the bottom of the ladder.

“You still don’t want to be complacent out there and you want to get the little things right, and still try and find that adrenaline and nervous energy to play.

“I actually got to listen to their post-game meeting which was really cool being in the inner sanctum and listen to how the players communicated with Sam post-game, that was really enjoyable for me.”
