Matchday 2 of the 2024/25 English Premier League season is complete with some intriguing games taking place.
The highlight of the weekend’s action was no doubt Chelsea’s demolition job of Wolves at Molineux Stadium.
The 6-2 win was Chelsea’s first of the season and Enzo Maresca’s first as club manager with the Blues dominating possession as their class up front shone through. Noni Madueke finished with a hat-trick which he netted in just 14 minutes in the second half while superstar Cole Palmer finished with a goal and three assists.
New signing Joao Felix also got on the scoresheet in his second debut for the club after being assisted by countryman and former Wolves winger Petro Neto in the 80th minute.
The other dominant result came at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with Ange Postecoglou’s men beating Everton 4-0 on Sunday (AEST). The Spurs are unbeaten through two games this season after drawing with Leicester City in Matchday 1.
Brighton also won in a thriller at home against Manchester United thanks to a 95thinute winner from Joao Pedro – they remain one of four teams to start with two wins from two games alongside Man City, Arsenal and Liverpool.
A huge game awaits in Matchday 3 with Manchester United hosting Liverpool at Old Trafford on Monday morning (AEST).
