SEN WA host Tim Gossage has made a bold Brownlow prediction.

Gossage’s big call is that there will be a three-way tie with Nick Daicos, Marcus Bontempelli and Caleb Serong sharing the award.

All three of those players made the 2024 All-Australian team and they all polled well in 2024, with Bontempelli picking up 29 votes ahead of Daicos on 28 and Serong on 24.

While Serong isn’t considered as strong a chance as either Daicos or Bontempelli, Gossage thinks that he’s a favourite of the umpires and catches votes for his consistency.

Hasleby: “Are we set for an unbelievable Brownlow medal?

“It could be one of the best that we've seen in history with the candidates.

“We saw Marcus Bontempelli win the MVP last night, we saw Nick Daicos win the AFLCA Champion Player and Patrick Cripps come second.

“Then you've got Zach Merrett and Caleb Serong, while Isaac Heeney's going to poll.”

Gossage: “Hase, take it to the bank, it will be a triple dead heat.

“Daicos, Bontempelli and Serong.

“Serong is a vote-getter, he’s a vote catcher, the umpires love him. I think he polled in eight of the last nine games last year.”

Hasleby: “He polled in 17 games in the Coaches' votes, more than any other player, his consistency was through the roof.”

The Brownlow medal has been shared in a three-way tie on two occasions in VFL/AFL history. First in 1930 when Harry Collier, Allan Hopkins and Stan Junkins shared the award and secondly in 2003 when Mark Ricciuto, Nathan Buckley and Adam Goodes finished first on the same number of votes.
