Carlton could lose a pair of West Australians in the upcoming trade period, with Jack Carroll and Jack Martin seemingly likely to request trades.
SEN WA’s Peter Vlahos believes Carroll will be looking for a move back home to Western Australia in particular.
The 21-year-old has played 15 games for the Blues in 2024, breaking out as a classy left-footed midfielder.
“Carlton’s Jack Carroll is possibly looking to head home or to another club. He played at East Fremantle and was a great product in the WAFL Colts,” Vlahos told SEN’s Sportsday WA.
“He looks like he wants to get out of Carlton and could request a trade.”
Martin is also out of contract and has had a frustrating season at the Blues, playing just three games.
It has typified his time at the Blues. The 29-year-old has played 3, 13, 12, 11 and 15 games during his stint at Carlton.
Vlahos believes Fremantle is keen on his services, but so are the Queensland teams.
“I believe that Jack Martin is now looking to come back to Perth,” he added.
“Clubs are circling him amid a salary cap juggle at Carlton. Martin is at the end of a five-year deal and has a few clubs after him, the non-Victorian team is Fremantle.
“His partner is from Queensland, so there is the option that he could return where he started his AFL career at the Suns or maybe even Brisbane.
“But it looks his career at Carlton is done and dusted. Freo have been into Jack since as early as last year, I believe.”
Brisbane midfielder Deven Robertson could also be headed home to Western Australia after finding himself on the outer at the Lions in 2024, playing just the two games.
“I believe he’s also now one to watch in this trade period,” Vlahos said.
“Maybe he should’ve taken the offer last year. His currency might not be as prominent as 12 months ago.”
