September bracket: Dwayne Russell predicts the entire 2024 finals series

SEN host Dwayne Russell has completed his finals bracket and made his picks for all nine finals that are set for September.

Russell is renowned for doing all of his home and away season tips in one go before the start of the season and he’s done the same on the eve of finals.

He made his picks on SEN Afternoons, starting with finals week one before going into his hypothetical matchups and tips for weeks two, three and the Grand Final.

Finals week one

QF - Port Adelaide def Geelong – Adelaide Oval

SF - Western Bulldogs def Hawthorn – MCG

QF - Sydney def GWS – SCG

SF - Brisbane def Carlton – Gabba

“I've got Port Adelaide beating Geelong tomorrow night,” Russell said.

“I've got the Dogs beating Hawthorn and knocking the Hawks out.

“I've got Sydney beating the Giants and I've got Brisbane beating Carlton, which is a fairly obvious one.”

Finals week two

SF – Geelong def by Western Bulldogs - MCG

SF – GWS def by Brisbane - ENGIE Stadium

“It means that Geelong and the Dogs will play the week after.

“I've got the Dogs beating the cats in that, but mainly because I had the Dogs a lot higher at the start of this year and I believe the Dogs have got a better list than Geelong.

“The Dogs to win back-to-back finals against Hawthorn and the Cats at the MCG.

“I've also got Brisbane beating the Giants and knocking the Giants out in straight sets.

“I think the Lions have a better list than the Giants and I thought that pre-season and I still think it now.”

Finals week three

PF - Sydney def Western Bulldogs – SCG

PF - Port Adelaide def Brisbane – Adelaide Oval

“That means Port hosting Brisbane and with more travel for the Lions, Port get them.

“I’ve got Sydney and the Dogs and I've got the Dogs going down to the Swans at the SCG.”

Grand Final

GF - Sydney def Port Adelaide – MCG

“That means a Port Adelaide and Sydney Grand Final.

“According to the pre-season algorithm, because I had Sydney a lot higher on the ladder at the start of the year, I've got Sydney to win the flag against Port on Grand Final day.”
