SEN host Dwayne Russell has made his early Norm Smith Medal picks.
Russell is picking Sydney to play Port Adelaide in this year’s Grand Final – with the Swans his tip to win it all – so as a result picked a player from either side that he thinks could claim the award on the last Saturday of September.
If the Swans win, Russell is picking Luke Parker - who is rated a $51 chance with Sportsbet - to win the medal despite being left out of Sydney’s side at times this year.
If the Power win the flag, Russell is backing one of their superstars Zak Butters ($21 with Sportsbet) to be the best player on Grand Final day.
“I’m tipping Port Adelaide to make the Grand Final against Sydney,” Russell said on SEN Afternoons.
“So, I’m tipping a Power player or a Swan to win it on Grand Final day.
“I’d probably go for Luke Parker and Zak Butters as my Norm Smith Medal tips.
“I reckon Luke Parker is the kind of guy to have a big day, he always plays well in big games, Luke Parker, and he’s back in form.
“Zak Butters is a more obvious pick if it’s Port.”
Sydney’s only Norm Smith Medallist was Ryan O’Keefe who claimed the award in 2012. Port Adelaide’s only winner was Byron Pickett in 2004.
