The 4 certainties for Port Adelaide versus Geelong

By SEN

Back for another year, the SEN.com.au team gives you an insight into how every game will play out across the weekend.

Labelling something a ‘certainty’ in any sport is fraught with danger.

But we’ll attempt to find some anyway.

Here is what we consider certainties for the Qualifying Final between Port Adelaide and Geelong.

Port Adelaide

Georgiades 2+ goals

Mitch Georgiades loves playing at the Adelaide Oval.

In his last five games at the venue, he’s kicked at least three majors.

While three might be a stretch in a hotly contested final, Georgiades should still get a few opportunities as Port’s main man inside 50.

You’d expect him to finish at least two of those given the field position the Power often dominate, especially at home.

Horne-Francis 20+ disposals

Jason Horne-Francis is built for finals, and he could have a big say against the Cats come Thursday night.

The last time he faced off against Geelong, Horne-Francis helped himself to 26 touches, one goal and seven clearances.

Given the midfield is probably the Cats’ weakness, Horne-Francis should have matchups in his favour all night and have a big say on the game.

He’s also had 20 or more touches in all of his last five games.

Dangerfield 25+ disposals, 1+ goals

Cometh the hour, cometh the man.

The 2022 Gary Ayres Medallist is no stranger to a big contest, and this is no exception.

Danger has hit a strong run of form entering the finals series, securing 20 and a goal in three of the Cats’ final four games.

In what is set to be an enthralling midfield contest, it will be hard to miss the champion as he gets to work in an all-important clash.

Humphries 15+ Disposals

Lawson Humphries has hit the ground running since his AFL debut in Round 16.

Falling below 15 touches just three times in his nine games for the Cats, the 21-year-old is averaging close to 17 a game, earning his selection in each contest since breaking into the senior side.

Looking set to come off the back half against the Power, expect a strong game from the youngster in his first finals appearance.
