Essendon forward Jake Stringer is reportedly telling people close to him that he’s played his last game in red and black.

That news is being reported by AFL Media’s Cal Twomey who also believes that Collingwood is interested in the 30-year-old’s services.

Stringer has hit a trigger for one more year at Essendon for 2025, but with the club unwilling to extend him beyond next season, the forward is reportedly keen on moving clubs.

Twomey says that Stringer is targeting a two-year deal and says that Pies coach Craig McRae has a particular interest in bringing the goalkicker to the AIA Centre.

“He has hit a trigger for one more season at the Bombers, he has $400,000 on that deal for next year but he wants more money and a longer term of two years,” Twomey told AFL.com.au’s Gettable.

“Jake Stringer is telling people he’s played his last game for the Bombers and that he’s done there.

“Collingwood has interest in him, Craig McRae in my understanding has a keenness on him coming to the club because he kicks goals.

“We saw him do it on Anzac Day when he was really good against the Pies.

“There isn’t a rush of clubs chasing Stringer, I don’t have the Swans as a part of that or being interested but I do think there’ll be a home for him.”

Stringer kicked 42 goals from 23 games in 2024, equalling his second-best career tally.

The forward’s best return in a single season came in 2015 when he kicked 56 majors and was named an All-Australian.
