“Should win pretty comfortably”: David Schwarz’s premiership and Norm Smith tips

David Schwarz is backing Sydney to win Saturday’s AFL Grand Final against Brisbane.

Schwarz is backing the Swans as he feels the minor premiers have been the best side all year and he’s expecting the loss of Oscar McInerney to hurt the Lions.

While both teams are looking to avenge recent Grand Final losses, Schwarz thinks that Sydney has more to prove on the big stage after they were thrashed by the Cats in the 2022 decider and as a result, he expects them to amend things and win ‘pretty comfortably’.

“I just think that they've been the best side all year,” Schwarz told SEN WA Breakfast.

“I think they've had the cosiest run, and I think Brisbane without Oscar McInerney … it's a huge, huge loss.

“I think Sydney win, and they should win pretty comfortably.

“They were embarrassed a couple of years ago, and I still think that that would burn on a few of the players' minds that they just didn't turn up.

“I'd be very surprised if Sydney don't turn up with absolute fire in their belly just to show on the big stage once more that it was a real poor afternoon.

“They'll amend that this Saturday, so Sydney for me.”

As for a Norm Smith Medal pick, Schwarz is picking Swans midfielder Chad Warner.

Warner was Sydney’s best in the 2022 decider with 29 disposals, two goals and 10 clearances.

“I'll give it to Chad Warner,” Schwarz said.

“I love the way he goes about his footy and I thought he had an outstanding year.

“He’s an impact player.”

Saturday’s AFL Grand Final at the MCG between Sydney and Brisbane begins at 2:30pm (AEST).
