Following the news that Lady Of Camelot is heading to The Everest, we’ve taken a look at the field as it stands.
Seven of the 12 slots have been locked up with the Australian Turf Club, Fairway Thoroughbreds, Max White, Godolphin, Yulong Investments and Col Madden & Neil Werrett the remaining slot holders to pick their runner.
SENTrack’s Miles Pfitzner has weighed in on the current field and who he’d be backing three weeks out from the richest sprinting race on turf.
Runner – Slot Holder.
I Wish I Win (Trackside Media):
Connections would’ve been stoked to hear the news that Lady Of Camelot has been handed a slot as it adds some speed into this race! On paper it looks to be one of the slowest Everest’s in some time and that is a shocking recipe for I Wish I Win who hasn’t won over the 1200m trip in his last four starts.
Stefi Megnetica (Newgate & GPI Racing):
Does look value at $15 given how well she performed first-up in the Shorts. Looks the most even Everest we’ve seen in years.
Joliestar (Chris Waller Racing):
Was keen to be with her after her scintillating first-up win but she was very flat last start. Keeping her very safe as we see Waller stars produce a flat run second-up quite often.
Storm Boy (Coolmore):
Don’t like backing this horse given his inability to jump clearly. He burns too many tickets early in his races and that’s very hard to do and win in the big sprinting races.
Lady Of Camelot (Go Bloodstock & James Harron Bloodstock):
Great to see the Golden Slipper winner in the race and she looks the leader at this point in time. Three-year-old’s have a great record in this race and I think she’s well over the odds at $26.
Bella Nipotina (TAB):
On form, Bella Nipotina has to be the horse to beat three weeks out from the race. Her first-up run in the Concorde Stakes was scintillating and we get to see her at the races on Saturday in the Premiere Stakes which will give punters a strong understanding where a lot of these sprinters are at. Her third-up record is brilliant and she’ll head to The Everest third-up this time around.
I Am Me (The Star & Arrowfield):
Looks a level below his rivals in this race. Won’t be putting my money anywhere near him despite being an on-pace runner.
