AFL.com.au revealed the list of 2025’s free agents earlier in the week and Kane Cornes believes teams around the competition should brace themselves for enormous offers.

GWS free agent Harry Perryman is set to receive reportedly around $900,00 per season from Collingwood in this year’s trade period, with bigger names looming in 2025.

The likes of Marcus Bontempelli, Andrew Brayshaw, Tom De Koning, Luke Davies-Uniacke, Oscar Allen, Jacob Weitering and Noah Balta headline the crop.

Cornes believes Adelaide should be prepared to offer 2025 free agent Darcy Fogarty an enormous contract.

“What is Adelaide prepared to pay Darcy Fogarty, who has been a solid player, but not an A-grader?” Cornes asked AFL Trade Radio.

“Are you going to give him a deal for life and if not, somebody will.

“If Fogarty is the best key forward on the market next year as a free agent – we’ve seen the Harry Perryman money – someone is going to pay him ridiculous money.

“So what does Adelaide do? Are they all-in on this guy? Are they going to pay him like Sydney has paid Logan McDonald, not fully sure whether he’s an A-grader.”

Cornes expects other teams around the competition to also be under the pump to re-sign key names.

“Look at Brisbane. Cam Rayner is in line for a huge pay increase. How does Brisbane sort that out with their salary cap?” he said.

“Brandon Starcevich as well to a lesser extent.

“Tom De Koning at Carlton is going to get a big one too. How hard can clubs go and how close can they get to matching offers?

“Andrew Brayshaw is the big one at Fremantle, Sam Draper at Essendon, Jeremy Cameron at Geelong, not that I would think he’s going anywhere. Luke Davies-Uniacke will be highly sought after.”
