SEN regular and Nine’s Tom Morris has listed his 10 predictions for the 2024 AFL Trade Period.
The player movement window officially opened last Friday for free agents, while clubs are now free to make trades until next Wednesday night (AEST).
Morris listed the 10 things that he expects to happen before that deadline closes on The Trade Feed.
1 – Houston to Collingwood, unlocking the Lukosius trade
“Dan Houston gets to Collingwood,” Morris told AFL Trade Radio.
“Pick 13 gets to Collingwood first (from Gold Coast) and is then passed on to Port Adelaide with Joe Richards.
“A future first gets to Gold Coast and another later pick and in among this, Jack Lukosius gets to Port Adelaide for a future first-rounder.”
2 – Parker lands at North Melbourne
“Luke Parker gets to North Melbourne for several later selections across the next two drafts.”
3 – Carlton load up for the 2024 Draft
“Prediction number three is Carlton moves future picks into this year's draft.
“We probably already know that based on what Nick Austin has said.”
4 – Eagles split pick No. 3
“My crystal ball number four is West Coast splits its pick three for a couple of top 10 picks.”
5 – Cats land Smith buzzer beater
“Number five is Bailey Smith gets to Geelong on the final buzzer of the trade period thanks to a complex array of 2024 and 2025 draft picks going back and forth.
“It'll be a bitter negotiation between the Dogs and Geelong.”
6 – Tigers end up with 2024 Draft haul
“Richmond will end the trade period with at least five first-round picks.”
7 – If Macrae gets his trade wish, it’ll be late
“Number seven is if Jack Macrae does get to St Kilda, it will be on the buzzer on the final day.
“The Dogs are going to be busy.”
8 – Quiet Dons
“Prediction number eight is Essendon has its quietest trade period in the club's history.”
9 – Bolton to Freo
“Shai Bolton gets to Freo.”
10 – O’Halloran to Dogs
“Prediction 10 is Xavier O’Halloran gets to the Dogs, but late in the trade period.”
