The Everest will be won by one of three horses in 2024.
That is the opinion of leviathan owner and racing fan John O’Neill who has narrowed the winning hopes down to just a trio.
Referencing Saturday’s Group 2 Premiere Stakes at Randwick, which was won by Team Hawkes’ Airman, O’Neill felt the run of third-placed Bella Nipotina has her spot on for the $20 million Everest on October 19.
And he believes there are only two other sprinters in the mix.
O’Neill said on SENTrack’s Giddy Up: “Did we see The Everest winner in that race (the Premiere)?
“Did you see Bella Nipotina’s run in that race?
“It’s a surer thing than death. There’s only three horses that can win - Her (Bella Nipotina), I Wish I Win and Joliestar - they’re the three.
“She (Bella Nipotina) is the most underrated (horse). She’s an absolute superstar that horse.”
Wayne Hawkes was quick to include Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott’s promising colt Storm Boy who has five wins from nine career starts.
“I know he’s slow out of the gates but I rap Storm Boy at 1200m, I like him,” said Hawkes.
The Everest favourite with Sportsbet is currently I Wish I Win at $5 ahead of Bella Nipotina at $6 and Joliestar at $7.
