Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has “no chance” of playing in the first Border-Gavaskar Test against India according to SEN Cricket’s Peter Lalor.

Lalor reported on Cricket Et Al that Green won’t play the first Test in Perth due to a back injury which is considered a stress fracture and is in danger of missing the entire Test summer altogether.

His report comes after it was revealed that Australia was planning for Green to only play as a batsman this summer due to the injury.

The 25-year-old recently moved into the No. 4 batting role after Steve Smith moved up the order to open in the wake of David Warner's retirement.

Green made 174 not out in the role against New Zealand in Wellington last February but was flown home from the UK following the third ODI against England in September after complaining of back soreness.

If Green misses, that opens up the possibility of Smith moving back to No. 4.

If the opening position is vacant, Victoria’s Marcus Harris put his hand up to fill that role alongside Usman Khawaja after making 143 on Tuesday in the Sheffield Shield against Tasmania at the Junction Oval.

The first of five Border-Gavaskar Series Tests begins on November 22 at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
