Clint Gutherson has been given permission to speak to other clubs, with the favourite to secure him for 2025 being the St George Illawarra Dragons.
Former Eels second rower, Justin Horo told SEN Gutherson would be a perfect fit for the Dragons side.
“If he ends up going to the Dragons, I think it will suit him perfectly,” Horo told SEN 1170 Mower's Club.
The inclusion of players like Damien Cook and Valentine Holmes hope to see a fresh new face for the Dragons, which Horo believes Gutherson would be a welcome addition to.
The Dragons have also signed coach Shane Flanagan for 2025, Horo expecting his “old school” nature to match perfectly with Gutherson's personality and play style.
“I think his personality will mesh really well with Flanno,” he added.
The 203 NRL gamer explains there was a level of disappointment from Gutherson in needing to move on from his team, especially with little prior discussion.
Despite this, Gutherson understood the situation, Horo believing the Dragons is the perfect way to carry out his NRL career.
“He was aware of the situation…he realised he is getting a bit older and understands how rugby league works. Not everyone gets the fairy tale ending.”
The future of the Parramatta captain remains unknown, but Horo insists he is still a fit and capable player and expects to see an exciting new chapter emerge in 2025.
