The three winners and four losers from the Everest barrier draw as favourite cops tricky gate

The barrier draw for the 2024 TAB Everest is in and it’s thrown a mixed bag of results for a number of key rivals.

Leading form analyst Dean Watling has run his eyes over the final field and barriers and he’s outlined the three biggest winners and four biggest losers in the world’s richest race on turf.

“The big winners out of the barrier draw were Joliestar who has drawn four, Growing Empire as well in seven and Sunshine In Paris from eight were the biggest winners,” Watling told SENTrack.

“The losers were I Wish I Win, Bella Nipotina, Private Eye and also probably Giga Kick as he’s going to find the fence from barrier three.

“Leading off rails is always key in these big sprint races as when you’ve got world class horses around you the last thing you want is being boxed in needing to get an out as more often then not the good horses are off and gone when you’re waiting for that run.

“I thought they were the winners and losers out of that draw.”

I Wish I Win remained the $5 favourite with Sportsbet in the 1200m feature despite the tricky draw with Joliestar ($6), Traffic Warden ($7) and Stefi Magnetica ($14) the biggest movers in the market.
