Essendon has delisted key tall Sam Weideman.

The 27-year-old was informed on Friday that he wouldn’t be offered a contract for the 2025 season following nine years at the top level.

Weideman played just 1 game in 2024 and 17 overall for Essendon across two seasons.

The former No. 9 pick played 59 games for Melbourne from 2016 to 2022.

Essendon list boss Matt Rosa thanked Weideman for his efforts after he joined the club in the 2022 Trade Period.

“I’d like to thank Sam for his contribution to Essendon over the past two seasons. These decisions are never easy but Sam handled it with maturity and professionalism,” Rosa said via a statement.

“We wish Sam all the best for his future endeavours and he will always be a part of Essendon.”

Weideman joins Kaine Baldwin, Jaiden Hunter, Nick Hind and Tex Wanganeen as delisted Dons this off-season. Dyson Heppell and Jake Kelly have also departed the club as retirees.
