Opals star reflects on Olympic medal moment, career highs and WNBA memories

Australian basketballer Cayla George is this week’s guest on This Is Your Journey – thanks to Tobin Brothers.

The forward/centre has been a star of Aussie basketball for the best part of two decades.

Her pro career started with the Australian Institute of Sport in 2005, and she’s gone on to play for several WNBL clubs including the Adelaide Lightning, Townsville Fire, Melbourne Boomers and Sydney Flames.

She’s also spent a lot of time playing pro ball overseas in France and in the states in the WNBA with the Phoenix Mercury, Dallas Wings and Las Vegas Aces.

George has also represented her nation at major events multiple times, winning a bronze medal with the Opals at the Paris 2024 Olympics.

That medal is one of many awards she’s received over her career as a four-time WNBL champion, a WNBA champion, WNBL MVP, WNBL Finals MVP and EuroLeague winner in Hungary.
