Australia’s Matthew Wade announced his decision to retire from international cricket on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old says he knew he was going to step away from representing his nation after the 2024 ICC T20 World Cup in the Caribbean, with his last game in the green and gold coming against India in Saint Lucia.

Overall, Wade played 36 Tests, 97 ODIs and 92 T20s for Australia after making his international debut in 2011, but he won’t be leaving the Aussie set-up completely.

While he won’t be playing for Australia anymore, the wicketkeeper-batsman will immediately move into a coaching role as a member of Andrew McDonald's staff for the T20 series against Pakistan next month.

Wade discussed his coaching move, his retirement call, his plans to continue playing BBL and franchise T20 cricket and much more with Julian De Stoop on SEN Afternoons.
