A number of NRL players donned new colours in 2024 and some impressed far more than others. SEN’s Scott Sattler and Mat Rogers gave their top eight signings for 2024.
8 - Dominic Young
Joined the Sydney Roosters from the Newcastle Knights
“He had a bit of a rough start but found his feet,” Rogers said on SEN 1170.
“I thought he had a pretty good year.”
7 - Paul Alamoti
Joined the Penrith Panthers from the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
“He started off slow in reserve grade but he came back and a huge showing in the Grand Final. “He proved to be a great signing.”
6 - Shawn Blore
Joined the Melbourne Storm from the Wests Tigers
“He landed on his feet. I thought his career was over.
“He had a fantastic year and what a swap (from the Storm) by sending Justin Olam (to the Tigers).”
5 - Kaeo Weekes
Joined the Canberra Raiders from the Manly Sea Eagles
“I thought he was great and we saw his speed in the PM’s XIII game.”
4 - Luke Brooks
Joined the Manly Sea Eagles from the Wests Tigers
“I thought he had a great year and it was one of the feel good stories.
“It was great to see Brooks smiling again.”
3 - Herbie Farnworth
Joined the Dolphins from the Brisbane Broncos
“The Dolphins certainly missed him when he was out injured a couple of times.”
2 - Stephen Crichton
Joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs from the Penrith Panthers
“This will be controversial.
“I am encompassing everything and Cricfhton would’ve cost a lot of money.
“He’s the best centre in the game hands down.”
1 - Bronson Xerri
Joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs
“He’s on a minimum contract and they threw him a lifeline.
“He will be loyal to the Bulldogs now on his next contract and he found some of his top form.
“On the open market, I reckon he would get $600k.”
8 - Shawn Blore
“The swap from the Tigers to Melbourne (was a steal).” Sattler said on SEN 1170.
7 - Kaeo Weekes
“We heard how quick he was and we finally got to see it regularly.”
6 - Connor Tracey
Joined the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs from the Cronulla Sharks
“He was the Mr. Fix-It for the Bulldogs.
“Tracey was outstanding.”
5 - Bronson Xerri
“Started the year in second grade and ended by being one of the strike centres.”
4 - Luke Brooks
“It’s one of the great stories of 2024.”
3 - Paul Alamoti
“I can’t believe the Bulldogs let him go.
“He wouldn’t have been on much more than minimum pay. Taylan May gets booted and then Alamoti got his opportunity.
“He was brilliant and from what (Penrith) would’ve paid him, it was outstanding.”
2 - Herbie Farnworth
“He was a great signing for the Dolphins from the Broncos.”
1 - Stephen Crichton
“It’s just the aura that he’s got.”
