AFL player agent for Hemisphere Management, Tom Seccull, is optimistic about the future of his client Ed Allan.
The 19th pick in the 2022 National Draft to Collingwood, Allan has played just the two career games, naturally finding himself on the outer of a deep Magpies midfield group.
The West Australian was selected around the likes of Josh Weddle, Darcy Jones and Max Michalanney, all of whom have had an early impact for their respective clubs.
However, Seccull has preached for some patience, saying the Pies are bullish on what Allan can develop into.
“Ed Allan is another one who had a strong finish to the year and got a taste of it. Collingwood has always had a really high opinion of Ed,” the player manager told SEN’s Sportsday.
“I think sometimes when these high picks come into the AFL and they don’t play much footy in their first year, you’ve got to remember that he’s been at a very successful football club and it would’ve been a different story potentially at a club at the lower end of the ladder.
“He’s had some great development behind the likes of Steele Sidebottom and Scott Pendlebury.
“Collingwood is really excited and so are we about what Ed can do over the next few years and get those more senior opportunities.”
Allan received an opportunity in Round 24, picking up 21 disposals and laying six tackles.
He is contacted to the Pies until the end of 2026.
