Postecoglou's super Spurs destroy reigning champions to move within one point of Champions League spot

Ange Postecoglou’s Spurs side has continued to pile on misery for Manchester City after defeating them 4-0 away from home on matchday 12.

The Spurs were dominated for most of the contest as they conceded a whopping 23 shots to nine, however defended well enough to ensure they recorded their third clean sheet of the season.

A double from James Maddison, plus some classy finishes from Pedro Perro and Brennan Johnson, inflicted the damage onto Manchester City, which now sees them remain five points off ladder leaders Liverpool with an extra game played.

For Tottenham, they move into the top six and sit only three points off a Champions League spot, whilst also now being only four points behind City.

In other results, Chelsea proved to be too good for Leicester City as they walked away 2-1 winners.

Arsenal strengthened their chances at a title push this season as they knocked off the in form Nottingham Forest 3-0 at home.

Bournemouth battle hard whilst down to 10 men but couldn’t get the better of Brighton as they lost 2-1. Aston Villa and Crystal Palace couldn’t be separated after finishing their contest 2-2. Whilst Everton and Brentford weren’t able to get on the score sheet as they played out a 0-0 draw.

Finally, shockingly, Fulham were easily outplayed at the Craven Cottage, allowing the struggling Wolverhampton to put four goals past them and ultimately win 4-1.

Premier League action continues overnight, as Liverpool travel to Southampton with the opportunity to go as much as eight points clear at the top of the table at the end of this match-week.

Whilst Manchester United will conduct their first premier league match under new coach Ruben Amorim when they travel to take on the battling Ipswich Town.

Matchday 12 is concluded on Tuesday morning, when Newcastle host West Ham at St James Park.
